  • What is NOW Alaska?

    NOW stands for the National Organization for Women. NOW is dedicated to making legal, political, social and economic change in our society in order to achieve our goal, which is to advance and protect women’s rights.

    NOW is an action organization of local volunteers, willing to take bold actions because the times demand them.


  • What activities does NOW Alaska participate in?

    Each chapter sets its own agenda based on the interests of the activists involved.

    Public outreach and education in the community through film screenings, forums, presentations; letters and articles; information tables at events; displays in public buildings; and public rallies.

    Grassroots lobbying of the school boards, city and community councils, and state and national legislators.

    Support local feminists with good fellowship and common cause.

  • What does becoming a member of NOW Alaska mean?

    By joining Alaska NOW or your local chapter you will have the opportunity to participate in actions in your own community, establishing friendships with local feminists. Your level of involvement is up to you, but whatever you do, you will be making a difference.

  • How many members does NOW Alaska have?

    Over the past several years, NOW Alaska has maintained a membership of approximately 400 annual-dues-paying members.
